“Foundation is the key to your A1. Are you prepared? Are you sure you know, or do you only think that you know?” These are the things I tell my students on the first day of class. Students THINK they know the subject only to realize they are actually inadequately prepared.
Yes, you may ask, “If you’re so good, why only B3?” My answer has always been it was due to my over-confidence. I thought I would score well only to realize how erred I was. Fast-forward 5 years later after having taught for 3 years, I have seen all kinds of students and know what is expected at the O Levels and how one can sufficiently prepare for it.
It has always been a preference of mine to invite the parents to sit in during the first few lessons even so as to better understand and gauge me as a tutor but more importantly to understand what the student he or she wants from the tuition class. It is my job to deliver the results and only by fulfilling the potential of the student can I consider my job well done.
Foundation is the key to success. There is no way a student can do well if he or she does not pay attention to the basics of the subject. Hence I always look to drill my students in their basics as it will facilitate the learning.
I currently have 8 students taking my lessons and have been teaching for 3 years, despite only being 21. Gender and age should not be requirements when finding a tutor but rather how well is the tutor able to help the student.
“You think you know. Yes, you think you know.”
